ECMTB 2022:
The 12th European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology will take place in Heidelberg, Germany, between 19.09-23.09.2022 and is a joint event organized by the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ESMTB) and the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB).
The meeting will bring together researchers and students interested in mathematical modelling with applications to life sciences. The meeting is planned as an in-person conference with an exciting line-up of plenary speakers, minisymposia, as well as contributed oral and poster presentations, which will be selected by the scientific committee from submitted abstracts. For our colleagues who are unable to travel, we are happy to offer online participation. The online version of the meeting will include live stream/webinar of plenary lectures and oral presentations. Online participants are invited to submit abstracts for consideration for an online poster.
Structure:
Plenary talks – held by prestigious researchers from the field of Mathematical Biology
Mini-symposia – four 25-minute presentations (each with 5 minutes for discussion) on a single topic of substantial current interest and importance in Mathematical Biology – only in person
Contributed talks – 25-minute presentations with 5 minutes allocated for discussions – only in person
Posters – all researchers, at all stages of their careers, are encouraged to opt for presenting a poster, in order to reduce the high number of parallel sessions
Online posters – researchers that cannot travel to join us in Heidelberg have the option of submitting an online poster. There will be NO online poster session, but we will host the abstracts and posters on our server, together with the contact details, and those interested can contact the author as needed.
All contributed talks, mini-symposia and posters will be grouped thematically.
Mentoring scheme:
Early-career scientists will also have the opportunity to take part in our mentoring program, to be paired with well-established experienced researchers who will offer feedback on conference presentations, advice on career objectives and help with networking.
Early Career Workshop:
As it has become customary at every joint ESMTB/SMB meeting, the SMB will organize a pre-conference workshop, where early career scientist will have the opportunity to learn about career tracks in mathematical biology.
Social program:
The social program will include a few organized activities, being an excellent opportunity to network in an informal setting. These will be booked separately.
Venue:
The event will be hosted in the University Campus located on the fields along the Neckar River in three main buildings, where cutting-edge research in Mathematical Biology is carried out: Mathematikon, BioQuant and DKFZ.
