The event will be hosted in the University Campus located on the fields along the Neckar River in three main buildings, where cutting-edge research in Mathematical Biology is carried out: Mathematikon, BioQuant and DKFZ.
Heidelberg University was founded in 1386, making it the oldest university in Germany. Noted alumni include 11 domestic and foreign Heads of State or Heads of Government and, as of 2017, 27 Nobel Prize winners have been affiliated with the university.
Directions from Heidelberg Main Station to Mathematikon:
- By public transportation: Tram No. 24 towards „Handschuhsheim, Burgstrasse“ leaves in 10 min. intervals. - On foot (15-20 min. walk, 1.5 km distance): Exit the train station through the main entrance. Cross the traffic lights by the bus and tram stop. Turn slightly to the right facing the metal horse statue at the corner of Mittermaier Strasse (in front of the Heidelberg Print Media building). Enter Mittermaierstrasse and keep walking straight ahead, crossing the lights at Bergheimer Strasse, onto the Ernst-Walz-Bridge over Neckar River and continue straight on Berliner Strasse. You will see Mathematikon at the corner on the left side, by the intersection and tram stop. The main entrance is at Klaus-Tschira Platz (building address: INF 205, 69120 Heidelberg). It is a straight shot once you are on Mittermaier Strasse. A map can be downloaded here.
